The Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) is responsible for adult and juvenile inmates held in more than 30 facilities. IDOC's facilities include minimum- and maximum-security prisons, camps, and work-release centers. The department's PEN Products program partners with private industry to create employment for inmates. Products manufactured through the program are sold to Indiana state agencies. Among IDOC's innovations are faith and character-building dorms in juvenile facilities. Founded in 1952, the Indiana Department of Correction has a biannual budget of more than $1 billion.
